I made a new pickguard for the DF-1 before handing it over to Jeremy for beta testing. It's a work in progress; a tortoise shell built up by alternating layers of amber and black tinted shellac on chip board. The finished product is pretty nice, with a little bit of unintentional distressing due to over sanding

Found this on BoingBoing this afternoon. The cantar by Mark Frauenfelder, is a simple two string resonating guitar. Besides being really curious about what this thing might sound like, the aesthetic is growing on me. Simple, clean and a bit strange. excellent.

Came across this Five Star acoustic the other day, and think it's a pretty handsome guitar. It's a Parlor guitar which means it's a smaller body and shorter scale. I didn't find any information on Five Star, but I am curious.

A few weeks back I came across this Silvertone for sale on ebay. It's really pretty fetching. I really like the Silvertone/Harmony/Danelectro guitars, they're really no-nonsense with the materials, almost industrial. Yet each guitar has a real style, quirky as they may be.
